Fall 1999
Intrigued by the investment and lifestyle opportunities of raising alpacas, we purchased 6 young females. Three were bred and by mid summer 2000 we had added two JetBlack males to our herd and a fawn female.
Being city folk at the time, we boarded our animals at "The Ring Ranch" near Saskatoon.
M M R Orlando - a Grand Champion Male was the chosen hersire for our females. Orlando's offspring have hit the show ring and they are they hot, winning multiple Grand Championships and class placements. Orlando was also awarded the prestigious Sire's Progeny, 1st place recognition with three of his offspring at the Manitoba Royal Winter Fair in March, 2002.
Guess what ! 2001 was a new crop of cria . 5 GIRLS and one male .
Mystery a brown. Celebrity a brown . Orlandia a white .Olivia a brown . La Zorra a fawn and Marcus ,the only male that year , a fine white boy.
Now comes 2002 birthing season. This time we get three boys ,
Magnum a super white , Teddy's Bear a brown and Senior Mirco a fawn , plus 4 female cria , Tootsie Too a brown ,Ellie ( Elegante ) a brown , Orminnie a white , Molly a brown .
What a year. Our origional "six pac " is now 22 . Thirteen Classic MMR Orlando babies 2003 ,will bring us to 32 animals , and a need for our own location , having gained sufficient experience to manage on our own. In just over 2 years our own breeding herd. Thanks of course to Bernie and Deryl.
